This is the AXiS, the latest digital radio product from Scottish radio designers and innovators Revo.
It’s a neat little multi-format radio and streaming device. It will pick up old school FM broadcasts and newer school DAB ones, but it does a lot more than that.
It also connects wirelessly to your Mac and streams music from there. If you have an account at last.fm, it will link up to that and let you stream music directly.
And if that’s not enough to listen to, it also uses wifi to stream any of thousands (Revo says 13,000) of internet radio stations. The AXiS has a 3.5″ touch-screen control panel, a built-in 8W amplifier, AUX-IN, headphone and video out ports, and will sell for just under 200 of our fine British pounds – about $312 at today’s exchange rate. It will be on sale in UK shops in October.
Revo devices aren’t cheap, but they have a lot in common with Apple’s own products. You pay more, but you get far better quality and design as a result.
