Jailbreaking Stunts Are Summer Fun at Apple Retail Outlets

The real news here isn’t that this is happening during business hours at crowded Apple stores, though that’s certainly a kind of cruel justice being meted out by the universe in the face of Apple’s original, preposterous stance that jailbreaking its devices ought to be a “crime.”

The real news is how easy it has become to do so. Will Apple continue playing the game, trying to stay a step ahead of the dev teams that provide the jailbreaking software, or will the company accept the inevitable fact that some people simply will not abide the inability to do what they want with the gadgets they own?

The rash of summer pranks may die down when the kids go back to school in a few weeks, but whatever Apple’s ongoing stance with respect to its walled garden, this genie isn’t going back into the bottle.
