Antennagate Having No Effect On iPhone 4 Sales Or Returns

The iPhone 4 is Apple’s fastest-selling device to date and there’s no sign whatsoever that the antenna issue is impacting sales or returns, Apple executives said.

“The demand for iPhone 4 is stunning,” said Apple COO Tim Cook during a conference call with Wall St. analysts. ”Let me be very clear on this: We are selling every unit we are making.”

Cook said the antenna issue has had no impact on sales.

“My phone is ringing off the hook with people who want more supply,” he said.

He also said there is not a significant number of returns of the iPhone 4. In fact, there are fewer returns than iPhone 3GS.

“The ones for this specific (antenna) issue are extremely small,” Cook said.

Not suprised returns are low. Jobs preaches ‘we want everyone to be happy’ but when you try and return an iPhone 4 for poor reception you are stonewalled by the staff who refuse to refund/exchange for that issue as they are ‘giving away a free case soon’.

    @L Weston,

Not true at all, we returned a pair last night without incident, and certainly without any hassle. The only confusion was that one had already been replaced under warranty and the serial no. didn’t match. Took an extra few minutes, but then we were gone with $582 back.

    Haters keep on hatin’

It’s a fact of life that some people are going to piss and moan no matter what.

Mi iPhone 4 no tiene ningún problema!!! es un producto increíble, claro que no lo van a regresar.

@L Weston, are you speaking from experience… or just feeding the trolls?

I’m not surprised. The iPhone 4 is awesome. I’m loving mine.

    SiliconTlaco, above me, said:

“My iPhone 4 has no problem! is an amazing product, of course will not return.”

Plus, Apple definitely takes care of their customers and does “the right thing.” I went to the Apple Store a few days ago to talk to an Apple Genius about a battery problem for my three year old MacBook. The warranty expired two years ago, and I did not buy the AppleCare extended warranty.

Without hesitation, the Apple Genius took a $129 battery of the shelf, swapped it with the battery in my MacBook, and gave me a receipt, charging me $0.00.

I’ve had my iPhone 4 a week and still no issues. It’s an amazing smart phone.

I think anyone putting their pinkie on the iPhone 4 to connect the antennas and disconnect their call is a traitor and an Apple hater.

  • JVC

I think iPhone 4′s antenna problem is actually very useful. Now you can fake bad reception when you want to hung up, but you don’t want to initiate it. Just blame on “bad reception”!

“Antennagate” my ass. This statistic proves the antenna issue isn’t one.

Josh, my sentiments too. It’s analogous to a Zonda at the price point of a Nissan and switchers whining for the cup holder because they can’t adjust, but then stats show it’s not the switchers but the Nissan maker itself who is raising the stink.

@L Weston – Troll fail. I have personally seen Apple store employees take back iPhone 4s without even asking why they were being returned.
