Single sign-on gets another big supporter.

HBO Go is now compatible with Apple’s single sign-on feature on Apple TV and in the TV app for iOS 10. The feature, which was added back in December, means users are no longer required to sign into each app using the credentials assigned by their cable provider.

HBO Go support comes just a few weeks after single sign-on was added to WatchESPN. A long list of apps now support Apple’s new feature, including NBC, USA Now, Hallmark, and channels offered by Disney.

However, takeoff has been somewhat slow, largely due to the fact that it requires support from both cable providers — like DirecTV, Dish, and SlingTV — and from the developers who are building apps for Apple TV and iOS.

To setup single sign-on, go into the Settings app on your Apple TV or iOS device, then tap “TV Provider.” Choose your cable provider — assuming yours has added support — and then sign in with the credentials they have assigned to you.

Once setup, apps that support single sign-on won’t require you to sign in manually; they will automatically pull the details you have already entered.
