Apple manufacturing partner Inventec is planning to expand its AirPods production capacity to meet strong demand from consumers.

Impressive sales of the hot new wireless earphones over the holiday period are expected to give the Taiwanese firm a boost in revenue, but its plants are already working overtime to deliver Apple’s orders.

Despite their high price tag and a lengthy shipping delay, AirPods have been extremely well-received. Glowing reviews from consumers and critics have led to incredibly high demand for the earphones, which are essentially sold out in Apple stores worldwide.

Demand is so strong that manufacturer Inventec has already expanded its production capacity throughout its Shanghai plants, according to a report from China’s Economic Daily News.

During a recent appearance on CNBC, Apple CEO Tim Cook called AirPods a “runaway success” and promised Apple is making new units “just as fast as we can.”

AirPods boast Apple’s new W1 wireless chip, which improves wireless performance and efficiency. They’re incredibly easy to set up, pairing to iOS devices in just one tap and switching effortlessly between Apple hardware. They also run for an impressive five hours between charges, and can get another 19-plus hours from the charging case that holds them.

If you haven’t already got yours, there’s currently a six-week wait for shipping when you order AirPods from the Apple online store. Apple is still making units available through its retail stores, but the small shipments sell out as quickly as they come in.
