What better time than the weekend to try out the latest apps to hit the App Store?

Whether you’re looking for a great Sim City-style puzzler or a great way to practice a new language you’re learning, check out our picks below.

Prisma

Prisma got a big update this week.

I’ve written about Prisma, the artificial-intelligence-powered photo filtering app, a few times before. However, this week it got a new update, allowing users to apply the same technology to video as well as still images.

Processing your videos into the 15-second snippets it allows takes between 30 seconds on an iPhone 7 and a couple of minutes on an iPhone 6, but the effect is certainly well worth waiting for. You can even process the files when you’re offline, which is a very useful feature.

Prisma’s creators have also promised support for GIFs “very soon.”

Duolingo

Artificial intelligence will get you used to speaking a new language.

While we’re on the theme of AI, language learning app Duolingo this week introduced new chatbots for users to converse with. Since the best way to practice a language is by spending time in a country where it is widely spoken, these text-based AIs do the next best thing: conversing with you in one of three different “personalities” to get you used to communicating in a new language.

Right now, only French, German and Spanish options are available, although there are more languages on the way according to TechCrunch.

Cost: Free (with in-app purchases)

Concrete Jungle

A port of a PC game which arrived on Steam last year, Concrete Jungle is best described as a sort-of mashup of the old-school Sim City games and a card-based puzzler. Your goal is to build a city by gaining the necessary number of points from citizens — with new and better buildings added to your deck over time.

Trust me, it’s a lot of fun — and extremely competitive.

Available for: iPhone, iPad
Cost: $4.99

DOFUS Touch

A mobile version of French MMORPG Dofus, the newly-launched Dofus Touch is now available for players around the world, after soft-launching in selected markets a few months ago.

Similar in style to Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, Dofus Touch is an incredible immersive experience that will eat up fours of your time as your journey through an immense world, hunt dragon eggs, take up profession, and team with other players from around the globe to assault dungeons and build guilds.
