iPhone Photography Exhibition Opens In Oakland

If you’re in the Oakland area in California some time in the next couple of weeks, you might like to pop along to the second iPhontography exhibition.

Organiser Knox Bronson (we’ve mentioned him before) is a keen proponent of iPhone photography, which he considers an entirely new artistic medium.

A central rule for the photos in this exhibition – and, Knox would argue, for iPhontography as a medium – is that no image manipulation is allowed outside of the phone. The images have to be taken and edited entirely on the phone itself. No Photoshop cheated allowed.

Knox says: “The images are not manipulated as those in advertisements, or fashion magazines, or Playboy, to sell something, but rather to bring out the greater truth of the image for the artist – and this is where, after the initial shot is taken, the artist’s personality emerges.”
