iPad Pro 2 leak
Something's not quite right about this iPad Pro.

If you’re sick of looking at photos of the iPhone 7, perhaps this apparent iPad Pro 2 leak will leave you satiated. The images purportedly give us our first glimpse at Apple’s early prototypes ahead of this fall’s iPad refresh — but can we trust them?

The photos, which were sent into AppleInsider, don’t give too much away. Don’t expect them to spoil Apple’s big press event this September, then. One thing they do tell us is that Apple still hasn’t fixed its big bezel problem.

Many fans have been calling for the company to trim the size of the borders around its displays — not only on iPad but on iPhone, too — but it clearly isn’t listening. It seems the front panel of this year’s iPad Pro will be exactly the same as last year’s.

The display shows the Settings screen on both devices, which reveals the “MH1C2CD/F” model number. This hasn’t been assigned to any past or present iPad models, but it does follow Apple’s numbering convention.

Another interesting thing to note is that both iPads appear to carry just 12GB of storage. It’s thought that this is because they are prototypes used for testing purposes only, but it still doesn’t make much sense to use a storage chip that won’t make it into final models.

Whatever the case may be, these certainly don’t appear to be existing iPad Pro units. That doesn’t mean they really are second-generation models — these images could still be fakes — but something’s not quite right.

Unfortunately, there are no photos to reveal the back of either device, so we don’t know if Apple has any design changes up its sleeve. We can be fairly certain the iPad Pro 2 will at least have an A10X processor, a True Tone display, and an improved camera.
