When you’re installing a bunch of apps, you can be sure that the one you really want to use right now will be the last one to finish. But that won’t be the case in iOS 10, which lets you prioritize app downloads using a simple 3D Touch gesture.
This problem usually arises when restoring an iOS device from a backup. All of your apps begin to download at once, and you don’t have any control over what order they install in; you can’t tell iOS which apps to install first.
But that will change when iOS 10 rolls out to all this fall.
“When more than one app is installing, users on iOS 10 can 3D Touch to select “Prioritize Download” and temporarily pause the installation of other apps while the selected one gains favor,” reports MacRumors.
This means that if you really need to use an app like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger to contact someone during a restore from backup, you can make sure they install first with a simple press. But only if you have an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus.
