Google’s official iOS app is getting a massive speed boost. Its latest update cuts down loading times significantly using new Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) technology, and adds sports highlights that are baked into Google Now cards.

Google’s app for iPhone and iPad is the only way to access the incredible Google Now on iOS. And not only is it insanely useful, providing you with instant access to information that’s important to you, but it’s now incredibly quick, too.

That’s thanks to AMP, which Google first introduced to mobile search back in February. Pages that support this technology are said to be up to four times faster than other pages, while consuming up to ten times less data.

“Each time you open the app or do a search, everything will load just a bit quicker,” Google explains. “Whether you can notice the difference or not, these small improvements will save app users a combined 6.5 million hours this year.”

Pages using AMP will be indicated by a lightning bolt — as demonstrated in the GIF below — and should load “almost instantly” in many cases, Google says.

In addition to AMP integration, the Google app now offers sports highlights inside Now cards — just in time for the NBA and NFL playoffs, and the Olympics. You can download the latest version from the App Store now.
