The last version of iOS 9 that was successfully jailbroken was iOS 9.0.2. Now, we’re up to iOS 9.2, and now Apple says iOS 9.3 will be coming soon. So when will the jailbreakers catch up?

Unknown, but it shouldn’t be too far away, with a prominent jailbreak hacker showing off video of an iOS 9.3 jailbreak exploit today.

The hack comes from Tedesco, a jailbreak programmer who was involved with the Pangu 9 jailbreak for iOS 9.0.2. He previously showed off jailbreak solutions on the iOS 9.2.1 beta.

Here’s the video in action, running on a 64-bit A9 chip:

What this video proves is that iOS 9.3 is vulnerable to jailbreaking. What it doesn’t prove is that a public iOS 9.3 jailbreak is coming soon. Oftentimes, those with technical know-how can jailbreak versions of iOS, but releasing that exploit in a state where any iPhone or iPad user can just click a “Jailbreak” button and go is a more complicated matter.

Still! Every good jailbreak starts this way. Let’s hope we see a workable consumer iOS 9.3 jailbreak soon. There’s still plenty of cool stuff happening in the jailbreak scene.
