Pulling the plug and getting the new MacBook with its single USB-C port doesn’t mean pulling the plugs on your peripherals. Plenty of companies, Apple included, offer adapters.

But one of the most versatile and elegant adapters arrived Wednesday from Satechi. Its hub adapter offers three A-type USB ports, an SD card slot and a micro SD card slot, allowing a user to seamlessly carry on.

USB-C is the future standard and Apple earlier this year made the bold move of introducing a new, thinner MacBook with one USB-C port. USB-C offers a single connection for everything with a bi-directional cord that delivers more power with a uniform plug that eliminates the hassle of figuring out which side is up.

Manufacturers believe more and more peripherals, from printers to extra hard drives, will be wireless.

The Satechi hub was clearly designed with MacBook in mind. The color selection, gunmetal, silver and gold, mirror the colors of the new MacBook. But the port will work the same on other computers with USB-C, from the Google Chromebook Pixel to the Nokia N1 tablet.

The Satechi Type-C Hub Adaptor is available on Amazon and Satechi’s website for $34.99. How it works doesn’t really require an instructional video but here’s one below in case one port remains daunting.
