Best List: Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

My wife is a voracious reader. And a bit of a hoarder.

So I tried to convince her to start reading ebooks on her iPad mini, instead of constantly bringing home new books from the book store. But it was not an easy transition. Partly because she loves to support our local bookstores and partly because she didn’t love the reading experience on the iPad.

Into the house comes a Paperwhite and all that changed.

Being a writer for Cult of Mac, I was a little annoyed by thought of owning a single-purpose, device. But if the latest version of the Kindle Paperwhite proves anything, it proves the old adage that it is better to be a master of one thing than a Jack of all trades.

The Paperwhite is an excellent e-reader. And if you don’t mind being mostly tied to the great Amazon in the sky, don’t hesitate to add another device to your life.

The size is perfect for travel, couch and bedtime reading. And the new higher-resolution grayscale display delivers just enough adjustability to make the reading experience excellent.

Oddly, my wife appears to be reading more and more. And even though she has a bajillion and one titles at her virtual fingertips, we still find ourselves at the local bookstore with arms full of books.

Win-win. I guess.
