Although we’re not sure if it did much to damage sales, last year’s iPhone launch was marred slightly by the so-called Bendgate problem — most famously shown off by the man who bent an iPhone 6 Plus with his bare hands.
Given the notoriety that video enjoyed, it’s no surprise that this year’s customers would be willing to put their new iPhone 6s handsets through the wringer to answer the immortal question: Will it bend?
While his testing method isn’t exactly scientific, Australian YouTuber Christian from FoneFox took up the challenge with his brand new iPhone 6s — and the results look very promising indeed.
Check it out below:
Although this year’s iPhone 6s looks almost identical to last year’s release, it seems that Jony Ive and co. went back to the drawing board to create a super-strong phablet design.
Specifically, Apple has changed up the inner casing screw layout, while strengthening the inner walls of the handset — near to the volume button — where bending occurred with the previous model. On top of this, Apple also used new 7000 series aluminum of the kind seen in the Apple Watch Sport and heavy-duty competition bicycles.
I’ve always thought that last year’s Bendgate saga was massively overblown, but I was still surprised by how far the rumor seemed to spread among the general public.
It seems that Apple wasn’t taking any chances this year!
