Since your Apple Watch must be tethered to your iPhone, they might as well match.

So Swiss designer Samuel Zeller has used his personal photography to make wallpaper to match both watch and phone, and it is available Wednesday with the launch of Apple Watch OS 2.

The work of the 24-year-old self-taught photographer shows a graphic sense of composition and a keen awareness for the place where bright color and beautiful light meet and explode. He has made 32 of his images available here for free download.

“Keeping it enclosed on a hard drive feels wrong,” Zeller says on his wallpaper website. “I needed to find a way to share all this elsewhere . . . where people just consume content like fast-food.

“I wanted to let other people appreciate my sensitivity on a more personal level, and what’s more personal in the digital age than the background of the device you wear and use every day?”

Zeller produces most of his photos with natural light and a strong graphic composition.

Zeller said the idea to produce iOS wallpaper came to him when he had noticed his girlfriend had downloaded one of his photos from his website as wallpaper. She did not like the built-in background or the default wallpapers.

Zeller works as an art director for a Swiss luxury brand, but appears just as busy with his photography judging by his website. He uses the line of Fujifilm cameras and sticks to work with natural light.

Zeller will also make some of his images available for other use. Contact him at sam@kuto.ch.
