Playing Dungeons and Dragons as a youngster is a watershed moment of a modern adult’s formative nerd experience. Grownups, however, don’t necessarily have time to draw up characters or roll dice for strength and charisma stats, let alone spend weekends huddled around a table full of charts, oddly shaped dice and Cheetos.

Knights of Pen & Paper 2 is a less-time-intensive way to recapture the dungeons (and dragons!) of yore in a cheeky, fun, self-aware way, all from the relative safety of your iPad, iPhone or select Android devices.

And now there’s an expansion for the mobile game, called Fist of +1 Fury, available as an in-app purchase for $1.99. Check out the trailer below for all the retro nerd fun.

Fist of +1 Fury adds content for the story campaign, a new character class, and piles of new monsters to kill and loot to collect. It’s a Far East-themed expansion, so plan on seeing a lot of kung fu jokes, ninjas and “masters of sober boxing,” according to the press release. There’s even a new Monk class you can role-play with. Fun!

Published by Paradox Interactive, the game plays like a turn-based tactical RPG simulator, with a cheeky dungeon master, tons of baddies to slay, and some fun, self-referential quests that will challenge your characters, which are themselves playing characters like wizard, barbarian and elven archer. It’s like the Inception of role-playing games: You’re playing an RPG about playing an RPG. Woah.

Bottom line, if you haven’t played Knights of Pen & Paper 2, or the original title, you owe it to yourself to check it out. While you’re there, be sure to drop a little extra cash on the Fist of +1 Fury expansion to get your fill of the kung fu ninja action.

Pass the Cheetos, please!
