Seriously, try not to starve. That’s the entire point of Klei Entertainment’s runaway hit game Don’t Starve, a test of survival set in a darkly humorous, Edward Gorey-esque world filled with vicious hounds, creeping spiders, herds of stampeding Beefalo and slimy fish men.

Now you can get in on the action on iPhone, as the desktop game just became a universal app called Don’t Starve: Pocket Edition.

Originally released for Mac and PC, Don’t Starve has gotten a couple of big expansions in the past few years. It’s also come out for the PlayStation 4, mobile PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, Wii U and (recently) Xbox One. It sold over a million copies in its first year of release.

It’s a fantastic roguelike survival game that offers a roster of fun characters like gentleman scientist Wilson, lovable pyromaniac Willow and Woodie, a lumberjack with a luxurious beard and a dark secret.

The new iPhone version is actually the same as the iPad one, which came out back in July. That means if you already own it on iPad, you can just download it to your iPhone when logged in with your Apple ID. You’ll have all the content that’s included in Don’t Starve on the Mac, including the Reign of Giants expansion, which brings more seasons and enemies to the title.

Bottom line: If you haven’t gotten Don’t Starve on some sort of device somewhere, or even if you have it on a console or your Mac, grabbing it for $5 on your iPhone is a great way to keep yourself gathering and crafting to survive death from starvation in the game while on the go.
