The App Store just gets weirder with every passing day. To celebrate, consider this the first in an occasional series of posts looking at the weirder stuff that’s popping up there.

10 seconds ago is a strange audio widget that records the ambient sounds coming in through the mic, delays them by, um, ten seconds, and plays them out through the speaker. Or, as the app’s maker puts it:

“When you try, don’t you think your vision sometimes hinders your concentration on the sound? If so, then try this tiny app.”

Couldn’t have explained it better myself. (There’s a pro version too, sonic delay fans.)

Assuming that’s not populationy enough for you, how about US Population Clock? Why did you make it, developer friend?

“Every US citizen should know the current population number of his or her country, which is why I have written this little app to keep everyone up-to-date.”

Oh. OK.

I know, some of you are reading this and thinking: “But WHERE OH WHERE are the dancing lizards?” Cue Let em dance! “Simple joy” say the devs. They’re not wrong.

Now then. What does Philosopher do? The dev site says:

“Philosopher is more than just a magic eight ball, it uses a sophisticated agent-relative deontological approach to determine whether or not an action is morally permissible. Philosopher applies a rule utilitarianism format to deontology values, and after taking several factors into account determines if an action should be done.”

Ohhhh kaaay.

Wait! One more! What about all those people who can’t remember how many days it is until their divorce comes through? Won’t somebody think of the divorcees-to-be? Oh, somebody has, with the release of Days to Divorce. Phew.

Found stuff that’s weirder? Let it seep into the comments.
