There’s a reason high-end car interiors are often accentuated with wood — it wears far better than many other materials, lends a rich, warm look, and each piece is unique due to striations and markings inherent in the wood.
Add the fact that wood is a renewable resource that — if care is taken to plant more trees — won’t harm the environment, and the result is a beautiful, warm, hard-wearing case from Vers that’ll also appeal to the green-conscious.
I’m not terribly keen on iPhone cases. The iPhone has sacrificed utility (read: battery life) in favor of svelte, sexy sleekness; weigh it down or hide it by wrapping it in a case, and one might as well be lugging around a Droid.
And Vers cases do tend to feel a little on the bulky side — not to the point of being uncomfortable in a pocket, but still noticeably so. But because the case is so gorgeous and so well-crafted, surprisingly, I actually enjoyed sheathing my iPhone in the Infocase.
Each case is handcrafted, and it shows — from the beautiful finish, to the smooth way iPhone slides snuggly into the felt-lined interior. Protection is fairly comprehensive with the Infocase; only a small window that displays time on the front, and a finger slide on the back expose the iPhone. Otherwise, your baby is completely sheathed in wooden armor — that’s also pinned in the corners for extra strength.
Apart from the slight bulk, the only downside is a spot of difficulty when trying to remove the iPhone with even slightly oily fingers. If a handsome, unique, sturdy case is called for, the Infocase is a pretty good bet — especially at the relative bargain prices they’re going for on Amazon right now.
Our test model was made of walnut; bamboo and cherry are also available. If full protection isn’t a concern, Vers also makes the Shellcase, which allows full access to the screen without requiring removal of the iPhone.
Of course, there’s also a case for the iPad.
