First ‘luxury’ Apple Watch dock looks cheap and boring

We still don’t know the exact launch date of the Apple Watch, but if you just can’t wait to load up on accessories for your Apple wearable, the first Apple Watch dock is already available on Kickstarter.

ChronosDock, a “luxury” bedside dock, is the first Apple Watch accessory we’ve seen launch so far. Its makers, Kickshark, say it’s “the most indulgent, opulent piece of docking jewelry” they could imagine. It only costs $99, but they insist it’s “excessive in the extreme” to satisfy all you high-end fashionistas.

We think it looks kind of boring, but take a look for yourself:

We only saw one Apple Watch accessory at International CES this year, and it was also an Apple Watch dock. Only it was quite a bit uglier than the ChronosDock.

The ChronosDock doesn’t look horrible, but it doesn’t really scream, “This cost me a butt-ton of money” like a gold Edition Apple Watch will. It would be nicer if they at least ran the charging cord down the arm and through the base so you don’t have any unsightly wires hanging out the side.

Weighing more than 2 pounds, ChronosDock also doubles as a world-class paperweight for those rare moments when your weak battery doesn’t need some juice. Early backers can pick up a dock for $99 or $129 depending on availability. A gold version is also in the works and comes with the luxurious price tag of $499.
