Happy Friday! It’s another week of picks, chosen by Mac Games and More, presenting a collection of fun casual games you might not have heard of. The selection includes tracking down a schizophrenic murderess on Shutter Island, a race to create the nation’s most visited tourist trap, counting on the Count of Monte Cristo and more.
 Shutter Island – Taking place on an island off Massachusetts’s coast and involving an escaped schizophrenic patient from a hospital for the criminally insane, the suspense novel, Shutter Island (by Dennis Lehane, the same author who penned Mystic River) turned motion picture adaptation (a Martin Scorsese film to be released this month starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Kingsley) now turned Mac game, has made nearly all the rounds. You’ll be tagging along with US Marshals Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule as they set out to find a murderess name Rachel Solando. There’s a hurricane. It’s cold. It’s dark and it’s gruesome; the perfect equation to equal an entertainingly eerie experience! Shudder! While the game Shutter Island is probably one part of a marketing campaign to spread the buzz about the film, it has its own merits as a hidden objects game, filled with adventure quests and puzzles.  Hidden Wonders of the Depths 2 – Hidden Wonders of The Depths 2 is the sequel to the popular Mac game, Hidden Wonder of the Depths, a game that blended mahjong, match 3 and hidden object game play. In this second installment, play through a variety of games as well: hidden objects, match three, slide and collapse puzzles and more. Your ultimate goal is to grant your little crab’s wish of exploring the seas and oceans of the world. During the main game play make matches of three or more by swapping icons, and clear a path so that your crab can approach a treasure and finish the level.  Tourist Trap – The city of Kitschville has been through some hard times. Nearly all of the businesses in the area have been closed for a while now, and the city has dug itself into a huge hole of debt in the amount of $1,000,000. But! You’re now the mayor in charge of turning the place around. You’ll be responsible for working closely with the city council and listening to all of their ideas wacky and otherwise, with an ultimate goal of reinvigorating the Kitschville economy by making it the Number 1 tourist destination in the country.  Sudoku Epic – Puzzle gamers might agree, I think, that Sudoku is the type of game you either love or hate. There doesn’t seem to be a middle ground. With Sudoku Epic you’ll be in sudoku heaven if you like games like these because it offers literally billions of puzzles! That is indeed EPIC, isn’t it? You won’t be getting bored any time soon here, but it if that does happen, you can change the board size, level of difficulty, enter the newspapers’ sudoku puzzles into the game, or simply design your own puzzles using the built-in editor. If you’re new to Sudoku, give it a whirl! You might find it challenging and fun. Basically, you’ll need to fill all blank squares on a 9×9 grid with the correct numbers. Each column and row must have numbers 1 though 9, with no repeats. Lastly, the nine 3×3 boxes that make up the grid must also contain numbers 1 through 9. If the game draws you in, say, in the first 20 minutes or so, you are probably a lover of sudoku. Otherwise, you might belong to the other category. Download it

 The Return of Monte Cristo – The sequel to the popular hidden objects Mac game, The Count of Monte Cristo continues with our hero, Edmund, avenging the murder of his beloved fiancee, Mercedes. Returning to Paris he hires a private detective, and with your help, you’re to find the culprit. Look through seek and find scenes to pin down evidence and clues that will lead you closer and closer to solving the case and locating the killer. As you progress, the plot will thicken in this mystery based on Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale of love, betrayal, vengeance and hope. Download it |
