As we watch the hordes of moviegoers heading out to see the final film in The Hobbit trilogy, The Battle of the Five Armies, we can’t help but rejoice a little that this endless epic journey is about to end.

In this parody trailer for the previous installment, The Desolation of Smaug, you can “Rejoin Middle Earth’s other, shorter, less interesting fellowship as they continue their slow journey to Scrooge McDuck’s vault,” as the gravelly-voiced narration actor says in the hilarious trailer.

Check it out below.

Screen Junkies‘ Honest Trailers make it their mission to create movie trailers with a more, shall we say, hilariously direct voice overs than the ones that typically issue forth from the mouths of studio executives.

This one is funnier than most, especially if you also believe that these Hobbit movies are an exercise in self-indulgence on the part of Peter Jackson and team.

The trailer points out some of the obvious silliness in the film, like the fact that the entire fellowship travels for months to get to this mountain, and then gives up after ten minutes when they find the door is closed.

Or the truth that the entire Gandalf side-story isn’t even in the original J.R.R. Tolkien book, and how the movie spends way too much time on a villain we already know the identity of.

“Ugh, we know, already! It’s Sauron,” says the narrator in a saucy yet spoilery way. “Get to the dragon already!”

Oh, and also? We’re completely happy with renaming this film The Hobbit: Two Down, One To Go.
