The digital version of Wired Magazine for the iPad and other devices will be a “game changer,” Editor-in-Chief Chris Anderson said Friday.

Showing off a demo of the digital magazine at the TED conference on Friday, Anderson said the interactive magazine brought print’s high-production values to digital for the first time.

“We think this is a game changer,” he told the audience.

Anderson said the digital magazine is on track for a summer release. The iPad is expected to be on sale by the end of March.

    Huh? Are we talking about the Wired version that uses Adobe Air’s format that is iPad incompatible? Mr. Clark believes that Apple is going to change the iPad to accommodate one magazine? I think it’s more likely Wired will change their format to suit the iPad and not vice versa.

    Did Mr. Clark listen to Steve’s comments during his town hall meeting at all?!

    @Peter,

    Using the native packager for iPhone, Flash/AIR based applications can be directly compiled to native iPhone applications http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplatform/2010/01/building_ipad_apps.html

    What I’m waiting for is the availability of most or all of my magazines and journals in electronic form. Interactive, saves the trees, provides easier search and bookmarking, as well as storage and retrieval. To me, THAT’S the game changer. This may be part of what he eludes to.
