Thanks to Pangu, we have all been able to jailbreak our iPhone 6’s far earlier than most of us thought possible. Unfortunately, though, Apple has been moving to close the loophole that makes the iOS 8 jailbreak possible with the iOS 8.1.1 beta, which is currently snaking through developer channels. When it arrives, poof, no more jailbreak.
Unfortunately, it seems like the iOS 8.1.1 update could arrive soon, perhaps as early as today. Better jailbreak now, people
A Reddit user claiming to be an Apple associate says that his team was told to expect a public iOS 8.1.1 update this week:
Just got back from work and we were told in a meeting today that a public update to 8.1.1 will be distributed within this week. Just a heads up to us Apple Associates for common troubleshooting scenarios we might come across from our customers. I advise you to update to 8.1 now before the window closes!
We’ve also heard that Apple has stopped signing the iOS 8.1.1 beta, which is usually a telltale sign that a new release is imminent. It is, however, still available for downloading on the iOS Developer’s portal.
What this all means is that if you want to jailbreak, you should do it now. The iOS 8 Pangu jailbreak was just released for Mac, so if you want to jailbreak, it’s easy enough to do. Better get on it before it’s too late, and definitely don’t update to iOS 8.1.1 if you want to keep your options to jailbreak open.
