Italian firearm maker Beretta has enlisted Apple’s new design guru, Marc Newson, to create a hunting double-barreled shotgun.
Newson has created a custom version of the classic double-barrelled 486 Parallelo shotgun for Beretta, which will be officially unveiled at an event in London on November 13th.
Newson joined Apple’s design team last month at the behest of best-friend Jony Ive. Apple has maintained silence regrading what projects Newson has been working on, and whether he had any involvement in the Apple Watch, but he’s still has time to work on other projects outside of Apple as well, like the draft beer dispense he made for Heineken that looks just like a Mac Pro.
The 486 Parallelo (pictured above) is a 12-gauge side-by-side game shotgun that’s lavished with engravings that cover its round body receiver. A teaser for Marc’s design changes hasn’t been released, but we expect he’ll bring his signature minimalist design tweaks to the 488 year-old gun company.
Beretta, which has supplied American Armed Forces and State Polices forces with the Beretta 92 pistol since 1985, produces 1,500 firearms a day. Sporting firearms like Marc’s upcoming shotgun and rifles account for 90% of production.
