In the ultra-competitive world of mobile payments, Square Cash continues to set itself apart as the quickest and easiest way to send and receive money.

Now money transfers are easier than ever. Thanks to a new feature called Nearby Payments, you can use the app to send and receive cash over Bluetooth.

Square Cash’s initial draw was its ability to process a transaction between two banks using email. The ability to make transactions over SMS was later added, and now Bluetooth Low-Energy provides the most seamless method.

Assuming you and whoever you’re wanting to transfer money with are nearby with Bluetooth turned on, the Square Cash app will let you connect without needing to send an email. The feature is limited to iOS 8 and the iPhone for now.

Actionable notifications in iOS 8 also mean you can approve or decline money requests from Notification Center. Like always, the app remains free to use with no hidden transaction or processing fees.

With Apple Pay on the near horizon, PayPal becoming its own company, and Facebook toying with adding mobile payments to Messenger, Square Cash is setting itself apart for doing one thing great: sending and receiving money. The app is a free download in the App Store.
