Many Apple fans were hoping the company’s first timepiece would ship to stores in time for the holidays, but with the release slated for ‘early 2015’, a new report claims you’ll be lucky if you even get to Digital Touch your lover on Valentines Day.

The Information reports that even Apple employees and partners were expecting to see the Apple Watch in 2014, but complications with the project have pushed its release to mid-February at the earliest.

“One person briefed by the Apple department involved in shipping the watch quipped that Apple would be ‘lucky to ship it by Valentine’s Day.’ Apple has said only that the watch would ship in early 2015, and a spokeswoman did not comment for this article.”

The Apple Watch is the first post-Steve product Apple has created, and the first new product category under Tim Cook’s tenure as CEO. Apple has usually timed the launches of it’s new product categories to peak during the Western world’s prime shopping season, but Apple decided it wanted more time to develop the Apple Watch software and apps. They may have also considered using a new screen.

Prices for the Apple Watch will start at $349 for the Apple Watch Sport, though you’re likely going to have to pay a good deal more to slap the rose gold Apple Watch Edition on your wrist.
