As expected, Apple’s Retina MacBook Pro line received its first refresh since October — adding speedier Haswell chips to its 13-inch and 15-inch models. The 13-inch notebooks now boast 8GB of RAM as standard, while the 15-inch models feature 16GB of RAM.
The minor refresh, which comes right in the middle of Apple’s back to school season, is to tide customers over until the arrival of the more significant Retina MacBook line refresh, which is expected in 2015 when Intel’s next gen 14-nanometer Broadwell processors are ready.
The new model Retina MacBook Pro specs can be seen after the jump:
13-inch:
2.6 GHz dual-core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, 128GB flash storage: $1,299
2.6 GHz dual-core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, 256GB flash storage: $1,499
2.8 GHz dual-core i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 512GB flash storage: $1,799
15-inch:
2.2 GHz quad-core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB flash storage: $1,999
2.5 GHz quad-core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB flash storage: $2,499
Users have the option of adding up to 1TB of flash storage for both display sizes, alongside upgrading to 3.0 GHz dual-core i7 processor on the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, and a 2.8 Ghz quad-core i7 processor for the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro. Both display sizes can add up to 1TB of flash storage.
Details of the refresh appeared over the weekend, courtesy of a leaked pricing chart apparently from Apple’s Chongqing, China store, which detailed the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro upgrade.
