Cowabunga! TMNT: Rooftop Run is Apple’s latest free App of the Week

Coinciding with the forthcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot produced by Michael Bay, Apple has announced its latest free App of the Week as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run.

It’s an endless runner combat game, in which the heroes in a half-shell fight against the sinister Foot Clan and evil associates. If you’re a Turtles fan, you’ll find plenty of familiar faces here — including the obvious (Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael) and less obvious faves (Kraang, Baxter Stockman, Casey Jones).

On top of that, there are vehicles like Casey’s motorcycle, the Chopper, and the wonderfully punny Shellraiser — plus the ability to enter Turtle Time in order to battle enemies in a slow-motion combat sequence.

I haven’t had the chance to play the game just yet, but I spent a small fortune on the classic four-player arcade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in the day, so am interested to see whether this game is able to carry over any of that magic.

If you want to find out, too, now’s the best time to do it — since as noted the game is currently going for free in the App Store (although it does contain a few in-app purchases). The offer expires next Thursday, so make sure you download it before then.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run can be found in the App Store, available for all iOS devices running iOS 4.3 and above.
