New leaked photos reportedly showing the battery from the long-awaited 4.7-inch iPhone 6 have emerged online, apparently depicting devices with a capacity of 1,810 mAh. Provided that these turn out to be genuine, this would represent a slight improvement versus the 1,560 mAh battery seen in the current generation iPhone 5s.
However, it’s worth noting that this doesn’t necessarily mean that the battery will last longer than present generation iPhones, since the iPhone 6 will certainly be more powerful than its predecessor, while the larger screen size could also munch up battery life at a faster rate.
Although I’ve never personally had any problems with my iPhone battery life, a 1,560 mAh battery would still be less than several competing smartphones, including this year’s Samsung Galaxy S5.
What does this mean? That unfortunately we’re unlikely to see the end of Samsung’s “wall hugger” accusations against the iPhone just yet.
