Magic Radio, the music streaming from DoubleTwist that boasts more than 13 million tracks, finally supports AirPlay streaming thanks to a new update that’s available now in Google Play. The release also adds Qualcomm AllPlay integration, but strangely, support for the Google Chromecast is still missing.

DoubleTwist is a hugely popular third-party music player for Android, and it made a name for itself by becoming one of the first Android apps to support Apple’s AirPlay platform. Until now, however, AirPlay streaming was only available for music stored locally — not the Magic Radio service.

That all changes with today’s update. Now users can tap the streaming button that appears alongside station names on the now playing screen to beam their music wirelessly to an Apple TV or a compatible AirPlay speaker. Upcoming AllPlay speakers such as those from Panasonic are also be supported.

You still won’t find Chromecast streaming built into DoubleTwist yet, however. While its rivals have been quick to support Google’s $35 dongle, DoubleTwist, for unknown reasons, is holding back. We’ve contacted the company to ask whether we can expect this to change in the future, and we’ll update this post when we get a reply.

In the meantime, enjoy Magic Radio streaming to all your AirPlay devices. If you haven’t already, download the DoubleTwist app now via the Google Play link below. It’s completely free to use with your own music, though Magic Radio does require a paid subscription priced at $8.99 a month.
