While Amazon’s locked in an ongoing dispute with publishing house Hachette — which has resulted in the publisher’s books being pulled from Amazon’s shelves — Apple’s more than happy to take advantage of the situation.
Apple’s iTunes store is currently promoting a sale on digital versions of popular Hachette titles, which includes upcoming books from the likes of James Patterson and J.K. Rowling.
To take advantage of the sale, head over to the iTunes book page and check out the “Popular Pre-Orders: $9.99 or Less” section. Click the “See all” button and you’ll be able to peruse the 26 Hatchette titles Apple is promoting, while Amazon isn’t allowing customers to preorder versions of the book at all.
Making this interesting is the fact that Apple has just gotten out of an ongoing lawsuit related to e-book price fixing — with Apple settling in a case that could have potentially demanded damages of $840 million. The primary party to benefit from that lawsuit? Amazon.

Not that either party will likely admit to this in public.
