Sony floods show floor at E3 with supersized launch titles

The sad part of buying a new console is not having enough games to play on it. That’s been the case with all three new next generation gaming machines released recently, but the trend is perhaps most noticeable with Sony’s new box, the PlayStation 4.

I purchased Sony’s hot new console on the day it came out, but the number of big new games I can run on it can easily be counted on one hand.

Sony looks to fill this gap next week at the Electronics Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, and it’s just released a staggeringly huge list of games (much bigger than the usual console-style announcement we’ve seen in years past) that we can look forward to seeing at their booth on the show floor, including over 40 games for the PlayStation 4 console itself.

The PlayStation 3 continues to see some love with new games planned for it, including Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix a fantasy game that sees you running around and interacting with Disney characters, and Persona 4: Arena Ultimax, a spin-off of the cult-hit role playing game from Japan.

Sony’s handheld console, the PlayStation Vita, is finally finding its legs as well, with over 20 games listed as playable at the Sony E3 booth, including hit indie Rogue-“lite” game Rogue Legacy, uber violent sequel Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, and Pixel Junk Shooter Ultimate, part of the successful Pixel Junk series of tightly focused arcade games.

What’s super exciting about this massive list of games are large number of PlayStation 4 titles, listed below. Most notable is Destiny, a game by the creators of the Halo franchise, Bungie. This highly-anticipated game has been a hot spot of interest since it was teased last year at E3, and having a live demo at the Sony booth is quite a coup.

We’ll be sure to take a look at the Sony and other big console gaming booths next week as we troll the floor for
