No Multi-tasking or Better Home Screen Love For iPad?

It’s been 50 minutes into the event and There’s no sign of multi-tasking. To switch between apps, all they are doing is simply closing the current and opening a new – no ProSwitcher like card management. This is definitely going to be a deal breaker for the most who are planning to trade their netbook for this device.

Also, the screen’s got some good real-estate, seems like 2x the resolution of the iPhone. However, the homescreen looks pretty much the same – even after so much criticism, there seems to be no improvement at all. The only new stuff seems to be the addition of a Landscape mode and the ability to have any image as the background. However, there’s no way to add widgets, nothing!

Hope Apple’s got some ‘One More Thing…’ to justify it’s yet to be announced price. ;)

    Nice device, but more of the same. No iChat, no multi-tasking, no computing apps – just a glorified iPhone. Like I said – looks nice – but if you wanted to replace any type of netbook, MB, MBP, etc. – even just on a trip – you can’t. Too bad.

    Up until before the event started, i was going to buy one regardless of price because i expected more from Apple.

    Ive read 20-odd comments on various sites, and all say the same thing. “more of the same”.

    The iPad brings nothing new to the table. I wasnt fussed about a camera, but no multi-tasking, no ability to have 3/4 windows/apps open at the same time on the screen. No iChat.

    Even though the price point of $500 is very tempting, I won’t be buying one until the next revision when all these basic additions are added to its features list.
