Apple plans to add another iconic location to its list of NYC real estate properties, according to a new report from Gary Allen at Ifo Apple Store.

The newest store location will be at a magnificent former bank building on the Upper East Side of New York City that was designed by architect Henry O. Chapman and offers over 9,000 square-feet of space, plus a vault in the basement – perfect for storing early iPhone 6 shipment.

The limestone and marble building dates back to 1921 when it was first occupied by the United States Mortgage and Trust Company. Other former occupants have included a number of banks and an art gallery.

The store has undergone a number of interior renovations along the way but still has most of its original features which Apple might be inclined by the time the store opens up in late 2015.

Luxury retailer VBH was the last occupant to set up shop, but Allen’s sources say that construction planning has already gotten underway at the 940 Madison Avenue location, making it the sixth store in Manhattan once completed.
