New game Mutants: Genetic Gladiators aims to be your go-to when you want to battle it out with comic book-style monsters that you mutate and create yourself.

The game, from French publisher Kojobo, originated on Facebook, gathering almost 6 million players with a turn-based arena battling scheme that mixes role-playing level-up mechanics with an interesting combat system that uses various monster “genes” to add to the strategy. You’ll choose three mutant gladiators for your battle team, and then pit them against other teams — both AI-controlled and actual other players — for ultimate supremacy.

Check out the launch trailer below for some hot comic-book creature battling action.

You’ll need to train and cross breed your monsters to unlock even better creatures, which you can then add to your collection. Each battle victory earns you experience points, coins, and sometimes hard-currency gold bars which can be used to speed up various tasks in-game, like building bigger and better facilities with which you train and create better monsters.

There are over 100 unique gladiators to collect and create, including comic-book staples like zombies, cyborgs, aliens and giant warriors who wield massive battle axes. Each creature has two different attacks which are strong against certain kinds of enemies and weak against others. You’ll take turns choosing which enemy to target as well as which attack to smash them with.

“After the success that Mutants: Genetic Gladiators has experienced on the PC, we are thrilled to be able to expand on that by providing iOS and Android gamers with the same fun and immersive mid-core gaming experience,” said Kojobo CEO Mario Rizzo in a statement. “With the mobile-specific user interface, menu system, and other improvements made to optimize the game for the mobile touch platforms, players will enjoy the all of the same rich monster breed and battling action that PC fans have come to expect from the series.”

You can grab the title now for a grand total of free and play on your iPhone, iPad or select Android devices.
