It’s a glass case of emotion, this game.
But it’s very simple, and it’s free, and it’ll offer some distraction and charm for a few minutes if that’s all you’re looking for.
First, I have to call some bull on the name. Yes, this game takes place on a hill, but your small, bald avatar doesn’t run so much as move at a pace of either a quick walk or a slow jog. Why do video games lie to us?
The next thing you have to know is that while you’re walk/jogging up the hill, bombs are going to start rolling at you. Your job is to jump over them by tapping on the screen, and you get a point for each time you avoid ‘sploding. But the dude jumps like he runs, so it’s way more difficult than it sounds.
And why the hell is he wearing a tie for this?
Still, eventually you’ll figure out the timing and get into some bizarre Zen state and get a score worth sharing. And then you feel amazing. But then you suck again.
It’s not the best game out there, but it’ll do well with fans of Flappy Bird and other single-touch challenge-fests. And that’s a pretty big demographic, really.
Game Name: : Hill Runner The Good: Simple, one-touch gameplay; very, very challenging. The Bad: It’s often frustrating, but that’s kind of the point. The Verdict: Don’t expect to spend hours with it, but it’s fun and charming enough for what it is. Buy from: App Store – Hill Runner – Stephen Brown |
