As the old song goes, “Google Maps and QuizUp, sitting in a tree, now both visible from low-Earth orbit.” It’s not catchy, but it is true – now the super-addictive trivia game has a Google Maps channel.
Satellite imagery form Google accompanies regular ol’ trivia questions about geography, and I did about as well in one game as I usually do on this subject. Fortunately, my opponent was even worse, but it was a hollow victory.
The mashup is a little gimmicky, but I guess in some cases the images can provide a clue. I wonder who’ll be next? Maybe there will be an Apple Maps channel, which looks way better but only rewards you when you get the answers wrong (#rimshot).
