I’m always on the lookout for some nice accoutrements to make my working day a bit more delightful, and as an Apple fan, the better something looks and works, the more I want it.
Take these sweet Macbook lap desks and iMac risers–made of walnut and oak with a birch core–from Danish design firm Nordic Appeal: they’re light, super functional and as elegant looking as I’ve ever seen.
Ergonomically, it’s useful to bring your Mac screen to about eye level, and having these little risers and wedges will certainly help you do that, no matter what desk, coffee shop table or lap you ultimately do your work on.
This Macbook riser, for example, provides enough lift to bring the Macbook screen closer to the ideal ergonomic height as well as providing you with a nice little storage space for an external keyboard, mouse or magic trackpad. And, if you spill that cup of coffee, it won’t leak into your precious Macbook.
The dark brown color is a nice option, too, and you can use this mini-riser as a more casual way to get that good ergonomic tilt to your keyboard when you rest your Macbook Pro or Air right on top.
But by far my favorite idea is the above Macbook wall-mounted solution, which could totally fill in for a standing desk in a crowded apartment or smallish house. The wooden knobs seem to screw directly into a wall or cabinet, letting you drop the shelf riser right over the top.
I personally want to try them all. For now, though, I’m enjoying all the different shapes and sizes, including this one for an iMac or Apple Cinema display. Doesn’t it just scream “upscale journalist” to you? I think it does.
Of course, if you’re really upscale, you’ll want to combine a couple of these bad boys on one desk, preferably one that matches the woodgrain color and style.
