Video sharing website Vimeo has acquired Cameo, a video-making app which launched last October.
Giving users the ability to create sophisticated video effects, including the ability to combine footage from multiple cameras, Cameo received plaudits from Apple, who named it in their “Best of 2013” awards.
Cult of Mac described the app as “Vine, but all grown up with muscles, a flashy wardrobe and a hip music collection.”
Vimeo’s acquisition marks the second video app the company has purchased in the last year — with the first being GIF-making app Echograph.
Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor isn’t releasing financial details about the Cameo acquisition, although he claims that Cameo will continue running as a standalone app.
