Waterproof iPhone Case Looks Like A Kids’ Toy

By

I’d say there are enough times you’d need to protect your iPhone whilst using it outside that something like the Surf Sound Play is necessary. I’d also say that Pyle Audio can and has done better. The Surf Sound Play case might work and sound great, but it looks like somebody found it in the dumpster round back of the worst dime store on the block.

The Surf Sound Play is a plastic box with am IP–47 waterproof seal, a speaker and a kickstand. The idea is that it’ll keep your iPhone safe at the beach, by the pool or in the rainstorms of the English summer. The speaker is connected using a 3.5mm jack plug inside the case, and it the seal closes with a big-ass clamp that keeps everything closed.

If this speaker sounds good then the aesthetic concerns can be forgiven. After all, who doesn’t like a little music by the pool? The 3xAA battery gives me some hope that the sound is bigger than that of a naked iPhone. Plus, it could be great for use on building sites or in the workshop or even in the kitchen – after all, the seal keeps out dust as well as water.

And if you already own a baby-blue iPhone 5C then you’re golden.

Price? $72. Available now, also in white and black.
