Blackberry CEO Coins Dumb New Slur For iPhone Users: “Wall Huggers”

Takes one to know one, Blackberry. The CEO of the beleaguered Canadian smartphone manufacturer — which recently celebrated achieving its first 0% market share since the smartphone wars started — is now calling iPhone owners “wall huggers.”

Speaking at the Oasis Montgomery Conference, where he was asked about the iPhone’s popularity, Chen said that because iPhones can’t even last a full day, “I call you guys wall huggers.”

It’s apparently a slight against iPhones, meant to suggest that owners of Apple’s handset need to “hug the wall” looking for an electrical socket because they always have to recharge their phones. That’s pretty rich, considering tests have shown that the Blackberry Z10 doesn’t get much more battery life than the iPhone 5s, and takes an “irritatingly” long time to charge.

I’d also argue, of course, that it’s easier for your smartphone to last all day when you’re not actually using the thing.
