I know we’ve talked about Flappy Bird a lot over the past month… but forget that stupid bird. You have a new god now. Meet Flapthulhu.

Based on H.P. Lovecraft’s tentacled cosmic entity, Cthulhu, who was described as “a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind,” Flapthulhu must escape from the monstrous world of R’lyeh (where he lays dreaming) to wreak havok amonsgt the civilizations of man.

Developed by one of my favorite (largely unknown) iOS devs Paul Pridham — one of the developers of Sword Of Fargoal, and the wildly overlooked Punch QuestFlapthulhu is the best Flappy Bird clone.

It’s harder, but the 8-bit graphics, the compelling sound design, and the Lovecraft bent make this the fhtagn-est Flappy Bird clone out there… and certainly the best designed.

Flapthulhu is a free download on the iOS App Store and developer Madgarden promises that other flappy Elder Gods will be coming soon as an update.
