The popular Hitman franchise will finally break away from consoles and make its way to iOS with a forthcoming game called Hitman GO.

Created by the Square Enix Montréal team, Hitman GO features a turn-based gaming experience, set in the Hitman universe.

In a recent blog post, Square Enix Montréal explains that users, “will strategically navigate fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies and take out your target or infiltrate well-guarded locations. You really have to think about each move and all the Hitman tools of the trade you would expect are included[:] disguises, distractions, sniper rifles and even 47’s iconic Silverballers.”

The same post also noted that the developers had been given “total creative freedom” to develop a Hitman game that would be a perfect fit for iPhones and iPads. “This was a lot of fun and we decided to develop something quite different and, we hope, totally unexpected,” Square Enix Montréal writes.

While no definite release date has been announced, Hitman GO is reportedly “almost ready for launch” and we should hear more about it in the weeks to come.
