It’s been nearly two years since Apple has updated the Apple TV, but according to a report from Bloomberg fans will only have to wait until April to see a redesigned Apple TV with new interface and plenty of new channels to boot.

While Apple is aiming to unveil the new Apple TV by April, Bloomberg says it won’t be available for sale until the holidays. That release date could change though because Apple is in the processes of securing new agreements with programming and distribution partners.

The new device, which plugs into a television set, will have a faster processor than the previous version and an upgraded interface to make it easier for customers to navigate between TV shows, movies and other online content.

Hopefully that means its curtains for having to scroll through the long page of channel icons.

Last year we heard Apple was tied up with Time Warner Cable in the Apple TV update, and according to Bloomberg the two are close to securing a deal that will make more channels available on the Apple TV.

Apple is also negotiating with other potential partners as well, but ran into problems working with Comcast and DirecTV. Mr. Fixit Eddie Cue tried to convinces the companies to let customers use their Apple IDs for credentials instead of Comcasts or DirecTV’s systems.
