Sonic The Hedgehog & Sonic CD Get iOS 7 Controller Support

For the most part, iOS 7 controllers are still pretty expensive and a bit of a luxury. If you already own one, however, and have a taste for retro video games, you’ll be pleased to hear that Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic CD have now received updates adding controller support.

Both games cost $2.99 from the App Store and — although worth picking up regardless — are made all the more authentic by the addition of controller support. While Sonic the Hedgehog introduced the iconic Sega mascot, the less well-known Sonic CD arguably represents the high point of the series during its 2D golden age.

A remastered edition of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 received iOS 7 controller support back in 2013.

Now we just need Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles to round-out our 16-bit nostalgia-fest.

The updates for Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic CD also feature the usual unspecified bug fixes.
