President Obama used an iPad for an impromptu interview during a recent appearance at a Maryland middle school.
The President — who has previously claimed that he spends hours using the iPad each day — seemed perfectly at home as he used the device to carry out an interview with the classroom teacher, before turning the iPad to record the pupils, assembled press members, and “Mike, my secret service agent” who he claims “never smiles.”
President Obama was speaking about the importance of digital learning within schools. He recently name-checked Apple during his State of the Union address — noting that the company is one of several tech organizations helping the Government reach its goal of ensuring that 99 percent of students have access to high-speed broadband within the next four years.
Apple responded that,
“We are proud to join President Obama in this historic initiative to transform America’s schools. Apple has a long history in education, and we have pledged to contribute MacBooks, iPads, software and our expertise to support the ConnectED project. We look forward to announcing more details with the White House soon.”
