Yes, You Can Still Jailbreak iOS 7.0.5

Evasi0n Jailbreak iPhone 5

In the latest release of the iOS 7.1 beta, Apple sadly closed the hole that allowed the Team Evasi0n jailbreak to work, closing the door on jailbreaking until the next exploit comes along.

Given that, you might expect that today’s iOS 7.0.5 release would also close the Evasi0n exploit… but no! It’s actually still safe for jailbreakers. You just need to do a (very little) bit of hacking to make it work.

According to hacker i0n1c, posting on Twitter, the latest version of the Evasi0n iOS 7 jailbreak works with a little ASCII editing:

To make evasi0n work with iOS 7.0.5 one way is to patch 11B511 into 11B601 in the binary. Ehmm btw… the patch are not hex bytes but simple ASCII iOS build numbers that need to be fixed.

If that sounds beyond you, don’t sweat it. Doubtlessly the official Evasi0n package will be updated shortly with official support.

So if you’ve been waiting to see if iOS 7.0.5 is jailbreak safe before you install, rest assured, it is. But this is probably the last iOS 7 update that will be, so get it in soon.
