Yahoo In Talks To Purchase Anchor Appmaker Tomfoolery [Rumor]

Yahoo is reportedly in talks to acquire business app developer Tomfoolery for around $16 million.

Tomfoolery is most notably the developer behind Anchor, a social network for coworkers, which we have previously written about at Cult of Mac.

Should the acquisition go through, Yahoo will gain a team that includes Kakul Srivastava — a seven-year veteran of Yahoo who left the company in 2011 — and Sol Lipman, a former AOL vice president.

What would happen to Tomfoolery’s Anchor app is unclear. Yahoo has previously acquired various app development teams, only to shut down their apps soon after acquisition.

Hopefully the same fate wouldn’t befall Anchor — since we thinks it’s pretty neat.
