Apple has today announced that iBooks Textbooks and iTunes U Course Manager are expanding into new markets across Asia, Latin America, Europe, and other countries around the world. The expansions brings the total number of countries supported by iBooks Textbooks up to 51, while iTunes U Course Manager is now available in 70, including Russia, Thailand and Malaysia.

iBooks Textbooks allows iPad users to experience digital, multi-touch textbooks with dynamic and interactive content, with almost 25,000 educational titles now available from independent publishers and leading education services companies. Some of those include Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, and Hodder Education.

iTunes U Course Manager allows educators to share their knowledge and resources with students via iTunes U, the world’s largest online catalog of free educational content from leading universities, schools, and institutions. There are currently over 750,000 materials in iTunes U collections.

“The incredible content and tools available for iPad provide teachers with new ways to customize learning unlike ever before,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “We can’t wait to see how teachers in even more countries will create their new lesson plans with interactive textbooks, apps and rich digital content.”
